At the end of the Jewish month of Adar, the Hillel Jewish Student Cultural Center hosted a significant event – a women’s seder organized jointly with the Kesher Project in Ukraine and Moishe House Dnipro. This event became a holiday for the participants, as they had the opportunity to spend it not only with their friends, but also with their mothers.
The event was opened by Alyona Kolpina, director of the Hillel JCC, who told the story of the idea, which had been in the minds of the organizers for a long time. She emphasized the importance of intergenerational communication and the role of traditions in the life of every person.
Then the event was hosted by Anna Altshuler, who interactively led the participants through all the stages of the Seder. She explained what the Seder is, how it takes place, and the significance of each of its stages. The participants learned about the history and traditions, listened to the magi, and performed various tasks that created a special atmosphere.
The girls had the opportunity to guess aromatic oils, look for affikoman, write wishes to each other on postcards, and ask each other four important questions that contributed to a deeper understanding of traditions and mutual respect between generations. “It was not just an event, but a real journey through traditions, during which each of us found something important for ourselves,” said one of the participants.
The Women’s Seder was not only an opportunity to immerse ourselves in cultural traditions, but also a platform for strengthening the bonds between mothers and daughters and creating a common experience within the Jewish community. An important part of the event was also the sense of unity and support among the participants, who discussed the importance of women’s voices in traditions and the role of women in Jewish culture. The Women’s Seder was a celebration for the participants and a reminder of the importance of passing on cultural heritage from generation to generation, as well as the value of shared moments spent with those you love.
