JBBBS Opens a New Season

The JBBBS (Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters) project of the Jewish Community of Dnipro has opened a new season of gatherings for children, parents, and volunteers. The program, which unites participants of different generations, helps children develop, find friends, learn more about Jewish traditions, and create shared memories. The start of the new season was marked with a grand celebration filled with games, creativity, and warm fellowship.

“Our new season began exactly as we dreamed – bright, fun, and together!” said project director Tatyana Kaplunskaya.

“This time we gathered in an amazing place from which the whole city was visible as if on the palm of one’s hand. And the weather seemed to also decide to support our festive atmosphere: warm autumn sun, the view, and not the slightest desire to leave. Our children, parents, and volunteers gathered – those same familiar faces that it was so pleasant to see after the summer break. The children grew a bit over the summer but remained just as lively, cheerful, curious, and ready for new adventures.

This time our celebration was dedicated to memories of what we have already experienced together, and to dreams and hopes for the future: we tested our knowledge in a fun quiz, prepared treats at a cooking workshop, played active games, laughed, and simply enjoyed time together.

And after the active games, a real surprise awaited the children – a Nerf shooting range! Here there was plenty of room to let loose: the children romped, competed, invented their own little strategies, and, what is especially pleasant, helped one another. It was noisy, fun, and very much in our style!

And we also made a little journey to Jerusalem – right in the middle of our celebration. We imagined that we were standing at the Western Wall and wrote our most important requests, dreams, and wishes. Very soon these notes will be sent to the real holy site in Jerusalem. And we believe that good dreams will certainly find their way to fulfillment.

While the children were having fun, our dear parents helped prepare the festive table – bright, beautiful, and incredibly delicious. And then we all enjoyed the food together, admired the city panorama, and even danced a little to our favorite Jewish songs.

But that was not the end of the surprises.

We returned to the hall and, holding our breath, watched a short video about the most cherished dream of our program. The one we all dream about together. The one that could become a special journey for our large JBBBS family. We sincerely hope that, with G-d’s help, this dream will very soon become a reality.

We sincerely thank the hospitable venue of the ARENA TOWER business center for the opportunity to hold our celebration there! We thank everyone who helped us prepare and conduct this day – the parents, volunteers, friends of the program, and everyone who invested their strength and time.

Special gratitude to the Jewish communities of Dnipro and Boston, and to the Chief Rabbi of Dnipro, Shmuel Kaminezki, for their support of our program and our children.

And this is only the beginning of the new season! Ahead lie many gatherings, adventures, creativity, holidays, new discoveries, and, of course, new memories. Follow our announcements – we are already preparing a lot of interesting things for you! Would you like to join JBBBS? We would be glad to meet you!
