The JBBBS (Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters) project of the Jewish Community of Dnipro is a space of friendship, support, and development, where children find like-minded people, learn to interact, and discover Jewish traditions and values. Each gathering of the project is an opportunity not only to spend time in an interesting way but also to gain new experience, learn to help one another, and feel oneself part of a friendly community.
This Sunday, the JBBBS participants created their own tzedakah boxes, spoke about good deeds, and enjoyed the last warm autumn days.
“It is important to us that children not only learn about Jewish traditions and values but also feel them in everyday life. Creating tzedakah boxes, we spoke about charity, care for others, and the fact that even a small good deed matters. And working together helped bring these values into practice: learning to help one another, to take responsibility, and to make one’s contribution to a shared cause,” says Tatyana Kaplunskaya, director of the JBBBS project.
The program of the gathering provided space for different interests and hobbies. Some were drawn to creativity and focused handiwork, others to active games, new impressions, and fun adventures. In such diversity, children learn to interact, find common ground, support one another, and feel themselves part of a team.
It is especially pleasant to see how the older participants naturally become helpers for the younger ones: they prompt, support, and by their own example show what it means to be there for someone. For a community is not only a place where friends meet but also a space in which everyone can grow, learn, and feel their own significance.
We thank everyone thanks to whom JBBBS continues to operate and to give children such opportunities – namely, the Jewish communities of Dnipro and Boston and the Chief Rabbi of Dnipro, Shmuel Kaminezki. Follow our announcements so as not to miss the next JBBBS gatherings, and join the community! Natalia – 068-480-30-52 (messengers); Yana – 093-356-02-12.”
