The JBBBS (Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters) project is an important program of the Dnipro Jewish Community aimed at supporting, developing, and raising children in the spirit of Jewish values, friendship, and mutual assistance. It helps every child feel part of a large community, find friends, mentors, and new opportunities for growth.
The latest meeting for participants was marked by intrigue, logic, and team spirit. “The program’s participants gathered to play an unusual adaptation of the famous game ‘Mafia’ – in our own, original version, specially developed and prepared by JBBBS volunteers,” shares the project manager, Tetyana Kaplunska.
The children took on various roles – Romans, doctors, scribes, prophets, and even spies. Each had their own mission, secrets, and tasks. The game became a real challenge and a workout for the mind, as it required logic, attention, strategic thinking, and persuasion skills. The atmosphere was filled with excitement, laughter, and genuine emotions.
“It was incredibly interesting to watch our participants reveal their leadership qualities, learn to think strategically, argue their position, and listen to each other. We saw that learning and development can be easy, fun, and inspiring.”
Such meetings not only bring children joy and communication but also strengthen the bond between generations, helping to develop confidence and mutual respect.
“Our children really enjoyed this adaptation of the game, so we will definitely repeat it many more times in our big family circle, adds Tetyana.
The JBBBS program, which is part of the Kehila Project, is implemented with the support of the Jewish communities of Dnipro and Greater Boston, as well as the Chief Rabbi of Dnipro, Shmuel Kaminezki. It is thanks to this support that the initiative continues to provide children with warmth, development, and a true sense of family. And very soon – new meetings, interesting ideas, and exciting discoveries! Join us – we are preparing many new things for our participants.
