The celebration of Lag BaOmer was bright and joyful at “Beit Chabad on Polya,” one of the synagogues of the Jewish community of Dnipro. The event was led by the synagogue’s spiritual leader, Rabbi Levi Engelsman, a well-known emissary of the Lubavitcher Rebbe in our city.
Participants enjoyed a relaxed and joyful yet deeply meaningful atmosphere. Rabbi Engelsman spoke about the essence of the Lag BaOmer holiday, the work of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, and the customs that mark a pause in the mourning restrictions observed between Passover and Shavuot.
The celebration featured kosher food cooked over an open flame – a nod to the bonfire, one of the most iconic symbols of Lag BaOmer. The cultural part of the evening included a performance by the well-known community singer Valery Litman, whose concert was warmly received by the audience.
“We are sincerely grateful to the Jewish community of Dnipro and especially to Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki for their support of our ‘Beit Chabad’ and this holiday celebration,” said Rabbi Levi Engelsman. “We have already begun preparing for the holiday of Shavuot, when the Ten Commandments will be read. Anyone who wishes to join this special moment at our Beit Chabad is welcome to call us at +38 097 0202524.”
