Rabbi Mendel Lichtstein served for many years as a Chabad emissary in Zhytomyr. He is now the rabbi of a children’s home in Ashkelon, where he continues to care for children from Ukraine.
Recently, Rabbi Mendel endured a severe ordeal – due to an aggressive bacterial infection, doctors had to amputate his leg. Yet, even now, he does not abandon his community and the children who need his care and inspiration.
“My brother-in-law, Rabbi Mendel, worked for many years in Zhytomyr. Unfortunately, due to a serious infection, his leg was amputated. We have started a fundraiser to help him and his family through this difficult time,” says Rabbi Moshe Leib Weber.
Everything changed in an instant, but Rabbi Mendel continues his work.
