At Jewish Lyceum No. 144 named after Levi Yitzchak Schneerson, the focus is not only on education, upbringing, and socialization but also on preparing students for their future professional lives, helping them make informed choices for a successful career and self-fulfillment.
The main work in this direction takes place during educational hours, and this applies not only to high school students but also to younger ones. For example, an exciting educational session was held in the 3-A class on the topic “City of the Future: Building Together.”
“Under the guidance of practical psychologist Valeria Ryazanova, the children became real architects and dreamers,” says the deputy principal of the lyceum, Tetyana Syrotkina. “Divided into groups, they worked together to build a city of the future, where equality and happiness prevail. Each group discussed which elements should be added to make the city ideal for everyone. The children dreamed of eco-friendly houses, parks with amazing plants, schools where everyone feels comfortable, and recreational spaces to spend time with friends. They learned to listen to each other, negotiate, and find common solutions. Every idea was valuable, and the children realized that only through joint efforts can something great and beautiful be built. The result of their work was not just an imaginary city of the future but also an understanding of the importance of teamwork and mutual assistance.”
For older students, career guidance is taken even more seriously. Ninth graders had a highly interesting and useful meeting with skilled professionals from the trades sector, titled “Exploring the Professions of the Future.”
“The guests spoke to the students about the relevance and demand for trade professions in today’s labor market,” continues Tetyana Syrotkina. “The ninth graders had the opportunity not only to hear about the advantages of trade professions but also to try themselves as craftsmen – they eagerly tightened bolts, learning the basics of mechanical work. The specialists also shared information about vocational education institutions in Dnipro where these professions can be mastered and what career prospects lie ahead for young professionals. This meeting was a great opportunity for students to expand their understanding of the world of professions and make an informed choice for their future.”
The event was held with the support of the Jewish Community of Dnipro.
