Marathon for “Sefirat HaOmer” – “Be the Best Version of Yourself”

During the period of Sefirat HaOmer, the leading educational institution of the Dnipro Jewish Community — Levi Yitzchak Schneerson Jewish Lyceum No. 144 — is holding a major week-long marathon titled “Be the Best Version of Yourself.”

For the younger students, each day is dedicated to a specific theme linked to one of the Sefirot — Chesed, Gevurah, Tiferet, and so on. Pupils are encouraged to put the daily theme into action through good deeds and create an illustrated report about their experience.

Middle school students were invited to choose one theme for the entire week and connect their good deeds to the values of Sefirat HaOmer. For example, the sixth-grade class chose to help an animal shelter as their contribution to improving the world.

High school students were given specific assignments instead of choosing their own. The eighth grade focused on exploring the power of words, the ninth on purity in all its forms (from body to thoughts), the tenth on illustrating the importance of support, and the eleventh on doing good deeds quietly and modestly.

“Each class approached the marathon with great responsibility and creativity,” said Tatiana Sirotkina, deputy principal of the Jewish lyceum. “In the coming days, we will summarize the results and highlight the most inspiring moments.”
