The latest men’s Torah lesson at the Menorah Community youth project of the Dnipro Jewish Community, which is actively developing thanks to the efforts of the Zislin family, was devoted to the weekly chapters of Chukat Balak and the profound spiritual lessons they reveal through themes of trials, the power of words, faith, and the ability to see blessing even in the most difficult circumstances.
The speaker at the meeting was Rabbi Reuven Kaminezky, who offered participants a meaningful study of the events described in the chapters of Chukat and Balak, helping them see how difficult passages in the Torah remain relevant to the lives of modern people facing doubts, challenges, and the need to maintain inner resilience.
During the lesson, participants discussed why not everything in life can be explained logically, reflected on the meaning of faith, and how a person can find light even in difficult situations. Particular attention was paid to the power of words and how spoken words can influence a person’s destiny, their inner state, and their relationships with the outside world.
A separate line of discussion was the understanding that even what initially appears to be a test or directed against a person can be turned into a blessing by the Almighty. This idea, which runs through the events of the chapters of Chukat Balak, became an important foundation for the discussion of inner strength, trust in G-d, and the ability to remain true to Jewish values in any circumstances.
“Studying chapters like Chukat and Balak helps men gain a deeper understanding that spiritual life requires not only knowledge, but also trust, inner fortitude, and the ability to see blessings where, at first glance, a person faces only trials,” noted Menorah Community project director Levi Zislin. “It is through studying the Torah, reflecting on its lessons, and striving to apply them in everyday life that our united and cohesive Jewish community of Dnipro, under the leadership of Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezky, is strengthened.”
