The topic of the next men’s lesson in the youth project “Menorah Community” of the Jewish community of Dnepr, actively developing thanks to the efforts of the Zislin family, was everything related to the Jewish wedding ceremony – the “Chupa veKidushin” rite.
The lesson was conducted by the secretary of the rabbinical court of Dnepr, Rabbi Avraham Joseph Itzhak Karshenbaum, a person who took direct part in the preparation and holding of most Jewish weddings in our city, and its topic was formulated as follows: “Jewish wedding: meanings, traditions and love.”
Rabbi Karshenbaum revealed the topic of the main wedding rites from the choice of the ring, a symbol of the eternity of the union without beginning or end, to the seven blessings that complete the ceremony – Sheva Brachot. Particular attention was paid to what the Chuppah symbolizes and everything connected with it.
“We talked about what makes a Jewish marriage special – from the reverent rituals under the Chuppah to the depth of the marriage contract,” says the head of the Menorah Community project, Levi Zislin. “This topic interested everyone: both those who had already been under the Chuppah and those who have yet to create a new Jewish home on the solid foundation of the Torah and the commandments.”
