The JBBBS (Jewish Big Brothers Big Sisters) project of the Dnipro Jewish Community has launched a new season of gatherings that, for many years, have brought together children, teenagers, their families, and volunteers into a warm community filled with Jewish traditions, friendship, and support.
“We are truly happy to kick off the season in this way: surrounded by friends, with warmth in our hearts, and in harmony with nature. Ahead lies many more meetings, exciting activities, new acquaintances, and friendly stories that will remain in our memories forever,” shares the project leader, Tatiana Kaplunskaya.
The inaugural event was a trip to the picturesque banks of the Samara River outside the city. Participants of the program gathered here with their families, along with new members. After a break of several weeks, the atmosphere was instantly filled with warm conversations, laughter, and jokes.
While parents prepared delicious kosher dishes over the fire, children and volunteers went on a walk around the area and took part in a fun game program with entertaining competitions. Next, everyone enjoyed a beach with warm sand and clear water—a perfect opportunity to savor all the summer fun while there’s still time.
After an outdoor lunch, participants discussed the weekly Torah portion. An engaging conversation was led by the Neshes family, and everyone shared their impressions and plans for the new season. Such moments bring both children and adults together, as JBBBS is not just about leisure but also about shared values and upbringing in the spirit of Jewish culture.
We would like to extend special thanks to the Jewish communities of Boston and Dnipro, and especially to Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki—for their support and inspiration. The JBBBS program is part of the Kegila Project, which enables children to experience more joy, warmth, and opportunities for development. Joining the friendly JBBBS family is very easy—call 068-480-30-52 (Natalia) and become part of a community where every child matters!
