New Video on the “Menorah” Channel: “Truth or Convenient Lies? Why Did G-d Punish an Entire Generation? Parshas Shelach”

A new episode in the weekly lesson series by Chief Rabbi of Dnipro Shmuel Kaminezki has been released on the “Menorah” YouTube channel, dedicated to the Torah portion of Shelach. In this lesson, the Rav addresses one of the most important themes – the ability to distinguish truth from majority opinion and to remain faithful to one’s convictions even when others think differently.

The portion of Shelach recounts the story of the twelve spies sent to scout the Land of Israel. Their return and the report that followed had a tremendous impact on the entire Jewish people and became one of the most dramatic pages of the period of wandering in the desert.

In his explanation, Rav Shmuel Kaminezki emphasizes that majority opinion is by no means always a guarantee of correctness. The Torah teaches a person not to abandon their own understanding of the truth and not to succumb to fears that may seem convincing merely because many share them.

Special attention is given to how Jewish tradition combines the laws of following the majority with the obligation to see reality as it is. Using the story of the spies as an example, the Rav shows how dangerous the desire to choose a convenient position can be, as opposed to one that requires faith, responsibility, and a readiness for change.

This episode will be of interest to anyone who contemplates the influence of public opinion, strives to make independent decisions, and wishes to gain a deeper understanding of the lessons of one of the most famous weekly Torah portions. The video lesson offers a fresh perspective on the story of the spies, the contemporary challenges of our time, and the significance of personal responsibility before the truth.
