“Nitzotzot Kdusha” Girls Day Camp Underway at the Menorah

This year, the traditional day camp for girls organized by the Jewish Community of Dnipro with the support of JRNU is taking place at the world’s largest Jewish center, the Menorah, bringing together fifty participants around this year’s special theme—”Nitzotzot Kdusha” (“Sparks of Holiness”). The camp program is built upon one of the most essential teachings of the Lubavitcher Rebbe: wherever a Jew finds themselves, they are there for a reason, for in every place there are sparks of holiness that it is precisely that individual’s mission to reveal, filling the world with the light of Torah, good deeds, and the observance of mitzvos.

The campers are divided into four groups, and each day begins with a communal tefillah. Afterwards, the girls take part in thematic sessions, games, creative programs, and a variety of activities designed to deepen their understanding of the camp’s core theme and to see how it applies in everyday life.

A special place in the program is devoted to the study of the Beis HaMikdash. Since the camp takes place during the days from the 1st through the 12th of Av, each day the girls learn about the structure of the Holy Temple and one of its sacred vessels, discovering not only the historical significance of these holy objects but also the spiritual lessons they hold for every individual.

One of the most vivid symbols of the camp is the personal bracelet worn by each participant. Each day, the girls receive a new bead, visually representing another “spark of holiness” they have uncovered through their good deeds, new knowledge, and observance of mitzvos. Over time, the bracelet becomes a tangible reminder of each camper’s personal spiritual journey.

Throughout the session, an exciting team game is underway, also tied to the camp’s two main themes—the structure of the Temple and the revelation of the hidden. Each group received a large panel depicting the Beis HaMikdash, and for their participation, teamwork, and achievements, the girls earn the right to “uncover” two scratch-off bricks, beneath which prize points are hidden. Until the moment of revelation, no one knows how many points a given brick will yield, so each day unfolds in an atmosphere of joyful anticipation, friendly competition, and genuine group unity.

“We very much wanted every girl not just to have a wonderful summer experience, but to feel that she truly has the power to change the world around her by revealing ever more sparks of holiness,” said camp director, Morah Leah Lazareva. “We want to express our enormous gratitude to our wonderful counselors, who with boundless love, care, and complete dedication create a warm, joyful, and inspiring atmosphere for the girls. We also want to say a big thank you to the entire staff of the ‘Milk and Honey’ café for the delicious and hearty lunches provided daily to the campers. Our camp is taking place in a very warm and vibrant atmosphere, helping each girl spend these days of rest productively while feeling the warmth and care that the united and cohesive Jewish Community of Dnipro, under the leadership of Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki, extends to every child.”
