The August issue of the “Shabbos Shalom” newspaper acquaints readers with the most important events in the life of the Jewish Community of Dnipro. The issue includes reports on summer camps and retreats, materials on educational and charitable projects, spiritual reflections, historical publications, family education, and a chronicle of community life.
The front page features a piece by Irina Lazareva, “The World Was Created for You,” dedicated to the “Gan Israel Levi Yitzchak 5786” summer retreat, organized by the Jewish Community of Dnipro with the support of JRNU Chabad Ukraine at the Kohavi Forest Club complex.
The second page presents an overview of the weekly addresses of Chief Rabbi of Dnipro Shmuel Kaminezki under the general title “As Long as the Candle Burns.” Also published is a brief note about the visit of American journalist Laura Lumer to Dnipro, as well as an article by Irina Lazareva, “Sparks of Holiness,” dedicated to the day camp for Jewish girls organized at the Menorah Center by the Jewish Community of Dnipro with the support of the JRNU charitable organization.
The third page is traditionally dedicated to the activities of the Chesed Menachem Charitable Foundation and features a kaleidoscope of its most significant events.
The fourth page features a selection of materials from community life. Readers will learn about the theatrical production “Do Not Look at Beauty,” prepared by the residents of the “Beit Baruch” Home for the Elderly, the prestigious state award received by Tatyana Zurabovna Gviniashvili, a creative workshop as part of the “Women’s Leadership” project at Solomonika, women’s lessons during the period of Bein ha-Metzarim, as well as the beginning of the wheat harvest for baking kosher matzah of the new crop.
The fifth page is entirely devoted to the piece “The Path of Exemplary Fatherhood: Love, Support, Discipline,” prepared based on a conversation between Chief Rabbi of Dnipro Shmuel Kaminezki and his son Mendel Kaminezki on the “Menorah” YouTube channel, dedicated to the role of the father in a Jewish family.
The sixth page features several diverse materials: a report on the “100 Mezuzahs – 100 Homes” campaign held as part of the international Mezuz.us project; a piece about the day camp at the Solomonika Jewish Cultural Center; a publication on the completion of writing and the donation of a new Torah Scroll to the Chabad Jewish community of Vinnytsia; as well as a historical essay by Alexander Bystryakov, “Vysotsky’s Tea, Brodsky’s Sugar,” dedicated to two famous Jewish entrepreneurial dynasties.
The seventh page is entirely devoted to the memory of Mark Gorodetsky. It features a touching memoir by his daughter Tatyana Katseva, “My Dad Marik,” in which she shares personal memories of her father.
The eighth page traditionally concludes the issue with a kaleidoscope of community life: birthday and anniversary greetings, announcements, and anecdotes.
