At “Chaya Mushka” Machon, the leading educational institution for girls in the Jewish Community of Dnipro, events were held to mark the holiday of Pesach Sheni for various age groups.
For the older students, the celebration began with breakfast and a discussion about the significance of this special day for every Jew. Teachers emphasized that Pesach Sheni teaches us that in Jewish life, it’s never “too late”—Hashem always gives us another chance to fulfill His will and correct the past. The girls also watched a video of the Rebbe explaining the deep spiritual meaning of Pesach Sheni.
A special guest was Bluma Cherkashina, a restaurateur and entrepreneur, an active member of the Jewish community from Pokrovsk, who now lives in Dnipro and is actively involved in community life. She shared her inspiring story: how she ran a successful business and had a cozy home in Pokrovsk, but suddenly lost all of her material possessions. Yet, with the support of Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki and the Jewish Community of Dnipro, she realized this was a call to a new stage in life. She took on a Jewish name, began drawing closer to Torah and mitzvot, and became an active part of the Jewish women’s movement in Dnipro. Today, Bluma Cherkashina has opened a new restaurant, helped her staff relocate to Dnipro and continue working together, and is building a new life on the strong foundation of Torah, mitzvot, and trust in Hashem.
This heartfelt and powerful story left a deep impression on the girls, who came to understand that only within the community, through fulfilling mitzvot and giving tzedakah, can one find confidence and build a happy and meaningful life.
