The next meeting of the participants of the Jewish Community of Dnipro’s educational project for women – “Jewish Home” under the leadership of Rabbi Hana Kaminetska – was held in an atmosphere of active preparation for Passover. The women gathered to study in depth the laws and customs of the holiday, discuss practical aspects of preparing the house, getting rid of the chametz and holding the Passover Seder. The meeting was also timed to coincide with the 11th of Nisan, the 123rd anniversary of the birth of the Seventh Lubavitcher Rebbe, Menachem-Mendel Schneerson.
The Jewish Home Project brings together women who seek a deep study of Torah, Tanya, Hasidic philosophy, as well as the traditions, customs and laws of the Jewish people. The class discussed in detail issues related to getting rid of hamez, cleaning and preparing the house for the holiday, the peculiarities of the Seder, and what and when it is allowed to eat on the eve and days of Passover.
“The class was taught by a wonderful teacher, Sheyna Smilyanska, and many participants from outside of Dnipro joined the meeting at Zoom. Our friends from different countries were with us,” said project initiator Haya Prasolova. – For example, Rachel Vinogradova and Dvora Vernik from Israel. It was very happy to see and hear them, to receive their warm congratulations on kosher Pesach.
Together with the participants and project supervisor Tzipora Nahshon, the women sang fun niguns, Rebbe niguns and holiday songs that are sung at the Seder. Despite the fact that the class was designed for an hour, the meeting lasted more than two hours – no one wanted to leave. The atmosphere was really warm, friendly and joyful.
At the end, all the project participants received food packages for the holiday. “Huge thanks to all sponsors and organizers, to the Jewish Community of Dnipro and personally to the Chief Rabbi, Reb Shmuel Kaminezki, for the support, thanks to the JRNU Foundation – for many of our participants such help is really vital”, – stressed Khaya Prasolova.
