Reconstruction of the Lyceum’s Kitchen Facilities: Students and Their Parents Highly Praised the Jewish Community’s Care

The completed large-scale renovation work in the dining hall of the Jewish Lyceum No. 144 named after Levi Yitzchak Schneerson, a leading educational institution of the Jewish Community of Dnipro, received high praise from the lyceum students and their parents, as well as from the lyceum administration and the leadership of the Jewish Community of Dnipro. Over the two summer months, it was possible to carry out a fundamental renewal of the main production premises of the school’s kitchen facilities, to completely replace the worn-out engineering utilities, and to ensure that the renovated dining hall began operating already on September 1.

Initially, a cosmetic renovation was planned, but during the demolition work it became clear that the condition of the engineering utilities and the finishes required a far more thorough reconstruction, for the kitchen infrastructure had been in use for over thirty years, and the engineering networks required complete replacement. The leadership of the Jewish Community decided not to limit itself to temporary measures but to carry out a comprehensive renewal designed for many years of reliable operation.

A project was developed for the renovation that provided not only for the replacement of outdated utilities and finishing materials but also for a well-considered organization of the premises being renewed. All the design solutions, the materials used, and the main technical questions were coordinated with the leadership of the Jewish Community of Dnipro, which made it possible to ensure a comprehensive approach to the reconstruction and a high quality of the work performed.

The renovation covered the hot, dairy, and meat kitchens, the premises for dirty dishes, and the corridor connecting them. Here, the sewage system was completely replaced, new drains were installed, new electrical wiring was laid, a new electrical distribution panel was mounted, drywall structures were installed, ceramic tile cladding was applied, and the lighting was renewed in accordance with the project. In addition, a partial reconfiguration of the dining hall’s administrative premises was carried out, while the load-bearing structures of the building remained unchanged.

Particularly noteworthy is the organization of the work, which had to be completed within an extremely tight timeframe without disrupting the educational process. The renovation began on July 1 and was completed already on August 28, so that by the start of the new school year the renewed premises were fully ready for operation. The work was carried out by the company “Trust of Development and Reconstruction,” which won the tender. Thanks to the professionalism of the builders, the well-thought-out organization, and the constant attention of the leadership of the Jewish Community of Dnipro, it was possible to cope with a task that at first seemed practically impossible.

The results of the reconstruction received high praise from the lyceum students themselves and their parents, for whom it is especially important that the renewal of the kitchen facilities makes it possible to ensure an even higher quality of food preparation, strict observance of sanitary and hygienic norms, and comfortable conditions for the organization of school meals. The children joyfully received the changes that took place, for all this work was carried out above all for their sake – for their health and well-being. The lyceum students and their parents sincerely thank the Jewish Community of Dnipro for such care, which is manifested in concrete deeds and makes the daily life of the children at the lyceum better.

“In two months, the builders accomplished practically the impossible, carrying out an enormous volume of extraordinarily complex work and managing to complete it before the start of the school year,” says the director of the Jewish Lyceum, Olena Krasnova. “We sincerely thank the company ‘Trust of Development and Reconstruction’ for its high professionalism and dedicated, high-quality work, which made it possible to fulfill the assignment of the Jewish Community of Dnipro – an assignment that is not limited to solving current problems but ensures the systematic, well-considered, and long-term development of the lyceum. For us this is especially important, for care for children is manifested not only in the content of educational programs and Jewish education but also in the creation of all the necessary conditions for their daily life, study, and development. It is precisely such a strategic approach of the united and cohesive Jewish Community of Dnipro under the leadership of Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki that allows the lyceum to successfully fulfill its educational and formative mission.”
