Reflections of Hanukkah 5785: “Sokhnut” told about the festival in Transcarpathia

Although almost two months have passed since the beginning of Hanukkah, information about Hanukkah events related to our city continues to come in. The Dnieper branch of Sokhnut-Ukraine reported on how the DACHA VDOMA youth festival, which it held in Transcarpathia, fared during Hanukkah days.

Oleksandra Kotok, Director of the Non-Formal Education Department of Sokhnut-Ukraine Branch, recalls this event: “From 25 to 29 June, the all-Ukrainian winter youth festival “DACHA HOME” for children aged 13-17 years old was held in Zakarpattia. The first day fell at the beginning of the holy holiday of Hanukkah, so the participants together with the madrichs and the entire team of the festival cooked Hanukkah and continued to perform this beautiful tradition every day, and of course they enjoyed delicious sufganiyot.

The participants of the festival were expected to participate in the Kino-theme thanks to which no one was left idle. The participants were divided into groups, which were proposed to them based on their interests and likenesses.
The group became a real studio, which at evening events created its own movie, playing the economic board game “Kinorobi”, were detectives and solved the disappearance of antique chanukia. They also created a film for a movie in the genre of “fun” and even visited a film premiere where each group received a nymovirno garni branded backpacks. Every day the madrikhas held interesting activities, creative master classes and lectures on topical issues.

These 4 days of the festival passed very quickly all because it was fun, festive, informative and interesting, the participants went home filled only with positive emotions and were maximally charged with the atmosphere of DACHA VDOMA”.
