Review of the June Issue of “Shabbat Shalom” Newspaper

The June issue of the Shabbat Shalom newspaper (the 389th issue in total) was published in a shortened eight-page format.

The front page is entirely dedicated to the article “Lag BaOmer – 5785”, which recounts how the holiday was celebrated in the Jewish Community of Dnipro.

On the second page — an overview of video messages by Chief Rabbi of Dnipro Shmuel Kaminezki on the weekly Torah portions; brief notes about the farbrengen celebrating Shoshana Weber’s birthday; about Pesach Sheni in the Dnipro-based Machon “Chaya Mushka”; and about Lag BaOmer at the ECC “Solomonika.”

The third page contains a “news panorama” from the Hesed Menachem Charitable Foundation.

The fourth page features a report on free guided tours that took place in May at the Menorah Center; an event in preparation for the first Shabbat after Pesach, warmly organized by Rebbetzin Shoshana Weber for female community activists; the Lag BaOmer celebration held by the JBBBS project of the Dnipro Jewish Community; the International Museum Day event at the “Memory of the Jewish People and the Holocaust in Ukraine” Museum; and a short note about a workshop at the “Shahar Junior” club.

Most of the fifth page is dedicated to an interview by Valentyn Khoroshun with Sarah-Mushka Kharpatina. It also includes information about the “Soul Restoration Workshop” held at the Or Shalom Psychological Support Center, and the Vyshyvanka Day event at Beit Tzindlicht.

On the sixth page — Valentyn Khoroshun’s report on the screening of the film “Shchedryk” held at the Menorah Center, and a note about Lag BaOmer in the Tikkun Olam project.

The seventh page contains two publications: Valentyn Khoroshun’s “DSU Theater: ‘Sicheslavna-2025’ and Other Prospects” and Ihor Manevych’s “Human Destinies”, covering two stories from Steven Spielberg’s film “Schindler’s List.”

The eighth page traditionally includes greetings, announcements, and jokes.
