Review of the Menorah Channel’s Episodes This Week

This week, the popular YouTube channel Menorah delighted its viewers with two new videos. In one of them, the co-host of the Chief Rabbi of Dnepr and the region Shmuel Kaminetsky was his son, Menachem Mendel. In their conversation, they discuss the current topic of how to choose a bride for a son. The second video is Rabbi Kaminetsky’s address to the weekly chapter “Vayakgel”, in which he shares deep thoughts and lessons learned from the text of the Torah.

The first video was called “How to Find a Wife for a Son? The Ideal Bride, Marriage of Convenience, and Intimacy Before Marriage” and its description says: “Finding the Ideal Bride: the Traditions of Judaism and the Role of Shadchans. Why in Judaism is finding a wife not just a meeting of two people, but the return of your lost half? How do shadchans (matchmakers) work, what do they get paid for, and is it really possible to earn a million dollars for a successful shidduch?

In this video, Mendel Kamenetsky and his guests discuss important issues of starting a family, choosing a partner, and traditional. In this video, we discuss finding the perfect partner in Judaism and the role of the shadchan in this process. We discuss whether appearance plays the main role or whether inner qualities, values, and compatibility of views are more important. We figure out why some marriages based on calculation turn out to be stronger than those built solely on emotions, and how to avoid mistakes when choosing a partner.

The second video is dedicated to the weekly chapter “Vayakgel”, it is called “Bright deeds cannot be done alone!” and the Menorah channel describes it as follows: “We are used to thinking that the commandments and good deeds must be carried out independently. But the Torah teaches us differently: the more people involved, the more blessings!

In this episode, Rabbi Shmuel Kaminetzky talks about why it is important to share the opportunity to do good deeds with loved ones, how this is manifested in Jewish traditions, and what Moshe Rabbeinu teaches us.

– Why do dozens of people participate in circumcisions and weddings?

– How does every good deed become a lesson for children?

– What do the construction of the Temple and charity have in common?

– How to properly involve others in the fulfillment of the commandments?
