Search for Chametz at the “Golden Rose” Central Synagogue

Traditionally, on the night before Pesach, the ritual search for chametz – “bedikas chametz” – takes place in Jewish homes, and in the morning it is burned with the recitation of a formula of complete renunciation of any chametz that may have remained unnoticed. At the “Golden Rose” Central Synagogue, this ceremony was conducted by Rabbi Reuven Milman, assisted by community member Chaim Abushevich.

“I was tasked by Chief Rabbi of Dnipro Shmuel Kaminezki to conduct the ‘bedikas chametz’ as the synagogue’s rabbi, and we performed this ritual with great thoroughness and responsibility,” shared Rabbi Reuven Milman. “After I conducted the search for chametz in my own home together with my family, Chaim Abushevich and I met at the synagogue and, as is proper, carefully examined all the rooms with a candle and a feather, gathered all the crumbs, and wrapped them carefully to be burned in the morning. I can assure our community that everything was done very meticulously, and for the Pesach holiday, our synagogue is free of chametz, as prescribed by Jewish tradition.”
