As part of the day camp for boys “Geula in every home”, organized by the Jewish community of Dnepr on the basis of the junior yeshiva named after Rabbi Levi-Yitzchak Schneerson, a special event was held, dedicated to the 20th of Av – the anniversary of the departure from the material world of the great Kabbalist and Torah scholar Rabbi Levi-Yitzchak Schneerson, the father of the Seventh Lubavitcher Rebbe Menachem Mendel Schneerson.
To coincide with this important date of the Jewish calendar, an event was held to install mezuzahs in the apartments of Dnepr Jews who, for one reason or another, were unable to install them before this time. The camp madrichim, in groups of three or four boys, visited these homes and held a Chanukat HaBayit ceremony, talking about the importance and significance of the mezuzah for the spiritual protection of the Jewish home and how the fulfillment of this commandment brings Geula and the revelation of the righteous Moshiach closer.
“This event literally became the embodiment of the name of our camp,” says the camp director, Rabbi Akiva Romanovsky, “we brought the light of Geula to eight Jewish homes and helped the Jews become closer to the Torah and the commandments, and become more prepared for the approaching Redemption.”
