The New Year of Chassidism at the Dnipro Jewish Lyceum

A special and inspiring celebration of the New Year of Chassidism—the 19th of Kislev—took place at the Levi Yitzchak Schneerson Jewish Lyceum No. 144, the leading educational institution of the Dnipro Jewish Community. The event united students from grades 1 through 11 in exploring spiritual traditions, history, and the meaning of the Chassidic legacy.

The celebration was held in a warm and solemn atmosphere, made especially inspiring by the presence of Rebbetzin Chana Kaminezki, whose participation gave the event depth and heartfelt warmth. Throughout the program, students engaged in a series of educational activities, finding answers to important philosophical and religious questions, exploring historical sources, recalling key events and miracles associated with the life of the Alter Rebbe and the significance of the 19th of Kislev.

Equally vibrant was the creative workshop portion of the celebration. For younger students, activities involved making candles as symbols of light and goodness. For middle and high school students, artistic sessions were held to paint plates with inspiring messages. These creative works will serve as a warm reminder of the holiday and the spiritual ideas and values that the Alter Rebbe revealed to the world.

“The celebration turned out to be very bright and meaningful, and the lyceum administration expresses deep gratitude to its organizer, the head of the Jewish Studies Department and Deputy Director for Jewish Traditions, Aliza Rabinovich, who invested her professional skill and great personal talent into this event,” shared the Lyceum Director, Olena Krasnova. “We also express profound thanks to the entire Jewish Studies Department for their significant contribution to organizing the celebration, creating a warm atmosphere, and for the immense work they invest daily in the upbringing and development of the students. We sincerely thank all lyceum staff for their active participation, support, and assistance in organizing the celebration, which was conducted at a very high level, as is fitting in our beloved, united, and cohesive Dnipro Jewish Community under the leadership of Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki.”
