“The People Rise Like a Lion”: JBBBS Creative Gathering in Dnipro

Another Sunday gathering of the JBBBS program of the Dnipro Jewish Community took place, combining creativity, meaning, and lively communication. The theme of the session was the phrase “The people rise like a lion” – an image from the Torah symbolizing strength of spirit, resilience, and the readiness to rise before any challenge. The participants channeled this motif into a creative project, making their own tote bags in patriotic colors.

Each piece turned out unique in its own way – vibrant, filled with personal meaning and children’s emotions. The kids enthusiastically chose colors, helped each other, and tried to express through their artwork their understanding of this powerful and timely idea. Importantly, behind the creative process was not only the desire to make something beautiful but also an attempt to feel the inner strength that is so important to talk about today.

A special joy of the gathering was meeting new participants who had just joined the program. The atmosphere of openness and friendliness helped them quickly get involved, and ahead lie many more meetings where they will be able to feel part of a large and warm community.

After the creative part, the participants enjoyed refreshments, hot tea, and a joint movie viewing, which provided a pleasant conclusion to an eventful day and added even more smiles and good cheer.

“It is very important for us to support inner strength, self-confidence, and the ability not to give up in children,” notes program director Tetyana Kaplunskaya. “Through such gatherings, we strive not only to develop creative skills but also to transmit values that help them grow into strong and well-rounded individuals. We sincerely thank the Jewish communities of Dnipro and Greater Boston, as well as Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki, for their constant support, for facilitating our ideas, and for the opportunity to create a space for development, friendship, and inspiration for the children. The JBBBS program has already begun preparations for the Lag B’Omer holiday, and new exciting meetings filled with meaning, joy, and lively connection await the participants.
