Festive events dedicated to 11 Nissan – the birthday of the Leader of our generation, the Seventh Lubavitcher Rebbe, Menachem Mendel Schneerson – took place at the Levi Yitzchak Schneerson Jewish Lyceum No. 144, the leading educational institution of the Dnipro Jewish Community. The Rebbe’s leadership continues to inspire the Jewish people around the world to this day.
The central part of the program for all students was an interactive game called “Stop, Open,” designed as a dynamic and engaging format in which each group passed a special package containing tasks related to the traditions of a Jewish birthday. When the music stopped, participants opened the next task and performed it, thus not only becoming involved in the game but also internalizing the meaning of the celebration through concrete actions. Among the tasks were reciting Tehillim, giving tzedakah, and making positive resolutions aimed at strengthening their personal connection to the Rebbe and implementing his teachings in daily life.
The program was tailored to the age levels of the students and included various activity formats. For the younger students, grades 1-4, the celebration continued with a “silver” disco, creating an atmosphere of joy and engagement. Students in grades 5-7 participated in a creative cake pop workshop, while the high school students, grades 8-11, engaged in making chocolate candies, combining practical activity with festive spirit.
“The celebration of 11 Nissan at the lyceum was a day when the children, through action, play, and shared participation, were able to feel more deeply the meaning of a Jewish birthday and their connection to the Rebbe,” noted Aliza Rabinovich, Deputy Director for Jewish Traditions at the lyceum. “We saw how students of different ages actively engaged in what was happening, how it became for them not merely an event but a personal experience connected to making positive resolutions and understanding their own role. We are sincerely grateful for the opportunity to educate the younger generation in the spirit of tradition, within the united and cohesive Dnipro Jewish Community under the leadership of its Chief Rabbi, Shmuel Kaminezki.”
