The Second Chanukah Candle at the Jewish Lyceum

A ceremonial lighting of the second Chanukah candle took place at the Jewish Lyceum No. 144 named after Levi Yitzchak Schneerson, the leading educational institution of the Dnipro Jewish Community. This event became an important part of the Chanukah celebration in the community’s educational institutions, uniting students, teachers, and guests around the traditions, light, and joy of the Yom Tov.

The honorable mission of lighting the second Chanukah candle was carried out by the esteemed member of the Dnipro Jewish Community, Yevgeniy Sitalo. It was he who gave the lyceum a special gift – a beautiful new chanukiah, which will now become an integral symbol of the festive life of the educational institution and will accompany Chanukah events for many years to come.

The festive meeting took place in a warm and inspired atmosphere with the active participation of the children, for whom Chanukah has become not only a ceremonial event but also an important element of the daily educational and upbringing process that helps them feel a sense of belonging to the Jewish tradition and community.

“It is extremely important for us that Jewish chagim live within the walls of the educational institution,” said the deputy director of the lyceum, Aliza Rabinovich. “Because it is in this way that a living identity, a sense of community, continuity, and inner strength is formed. We sincerely thank Yevgeniy Sitalo for this bright gift and for participating in one of the events of Chanukah week, which are held directly at the lyceum. The main event will take place in the heart of our wonderful Jewish community, at the world’s largest Jewish center, ‘Menorah.’ We can learn to celebrate and be filled with spiritual light so beautifully thanks to the love, care, and support of our united and cohesive Dnipro Jewish community under the leadership of its Rav, Shmuel Kaminezki.”
