The theme of the month of Iyar at the Levi Yitzchak Schneerson Jewish Lyceum No. 144, the leading educational institution of the Dnipro Jewish Community, has become one of the most important concepts in personal development – humanity, compassion, a kind heart, and attentive care for others.
Throughout the month, a series of meaningful events will take place at the lyceum, helping children not only to understand the value of good deeds but also to embody them in daily life. One of the central events will be the creation of a symbolic “Tree of Humanity,” which will reflect good deeds, care, and mutual attention.
The students will also fill a “Box of Warm Words,” leaving messages of support, gratitude, and sincere wishes, so that everyone can feel the power of kindness and the importance of a timely kind word.
A special place in the monthly theme is given to the words of Rabbi Akiva about loving one’s neighbor as one of the main principles of the Torah. It is through such values that the lyceum seeks to educate children capable of bringing more goodness, light, and responsibility into the world.
“We want our students to understand: what makes a person successful is not only knowledge, but first and foremost humanity – the ability to empathize, support, and notice those around them,” noted Halyna Nakonechna, Deputy Director for Educational Work at the lyceum. “It is very important that children learn daily to do good naturally and from the heart. We believe that within this month we will be able to convey to our students an understanding of those fundamental principles of love for one’s neighbor upon which Jewish tradition is based, and which are always embodied in the life of the united and cohesive Dnipro Jewish Community under the leadership of Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki.”
