On the eve of the Passover holiday and preparations for it, our website is pleased to present to our readers a video fragment of a speech by the Head of our generation, the Seventh Lubavitcher Rebbe Menachem-Mendel Schneerson, in which he speaks in Russian about the civic and spiritual feat of his father, the Chief Rabbi of Katerynoslav-Dnipropetrovsk, Levi Yitzhak Schneerson.
The Rebbe recounts the period in his father’s life when the Soviet regime tried to prevent Jews from observing their traditions, especially Passover. Levi Yitzhak openly and courageously confronted the entire totalitarian machine and was able to force the authorities to make significant concessions, allowing him and his agents to organize the production of matzah that was kosher for Passover.
