A deeply emotional and spiritually uplifting men’s farbrengen was held at one of the synagogues of the united Jewish Community of Dnipro — the historic “Alter Shul,” now home to the “Dobre Maybutne” rehabilitation center — in honor of the 12th–13th of Tammuz, marking the 145th anniversary of the birth of the Previous Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn, and the 98th anniversary of his miraculous liberation from Soviet imprisonment.
The farbrengen was led by Rabbi Adam Smiliansky, the rabbi of the “Alter Shul” synagogue. He emphasized the unique significance of this date in the Chassidic calendar for individuals with difficult life stories — those who require special care, social integration, psychological and spiritual support — just like the participants of the “Dobre Maybutne” rehabilitation programs.
“The farbrengen took place in a very warm and heartfelt atmosphere,” shared Rabbi Adam Smiliansky, “because the story of the Sixth Lubavitcher Rebbe deeply resonates with the stories of every congregant of our synagogue. These are people who have gone through extremely hard circumstances in their lives and today, thanks to the support of the Jewish Community of Dnipro, have been able to see light in their personal journey. We understand that all of this became possible because of what happened on those days — the 12th and 13th of Tammuz — thanks to the incredible faith of Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak in the truth that G-d is the sole Ruler of the world. It was his unwavering faith in G-d that enabled the Rebbe to overcome challenges that, at that time, seemed absolutely insurmountable. The participants were deeply inspired and realized that everything in life depends on the strength of their own faith — and that faith can truly draw light into one’s life.”
