The Jewish Community of Dnipro had the honor of welcoming Rabbi Usher Anshel Eckstein, the Chief Rabbi and one of the leading figures of the esteemed kashrut authority Vaad HaKashrus of Kehal Machzikei Hadas Belz, also known as Vaad HaKashrus of Belz USA.
During his visit, Rabbi Eckstein met with the Chief Rabbi of Dnipro and the region, Shmuel Kaminezki. Later, the distinguished guest toured the renowned Dnipro matzah bakery Tiferet Matzot, which specializes in handmade shmurah matzah. The bakery’s products are certified kosher by numerous respected institutions. Accompanied by Rabbi Myer Tzvi Stambler, Chairman of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine; Rabbi Yisroel Aryeh-Leib Gurevich, the current head of the kashrut department of the Dnipro Jewish Community; and Rabbi Elisha Baram, the department’s longtime former head, Rabbi Eckstein carefully examined the production process. Following a thorough inspection, Rabbi Eckstein expressed full satisfaction and even admiration for everything he saw. Deeply impressed, he immediately informed the Vaad HaKashrus of Belz USA that the bakery meets the organization’s strict kashrut standards and that it will receive their kosher certification.
“Our bakery already holds kashrut certification from the Chief Rabbi of Dnipro, from the Chief Rabbi of Kfar Chabad, and from the internationally recognized OK Kosher Certification. We are now thrilled to add the certification from the highly respected Vaad HaKashrus of Belz USA,” said Rabbi Myer Tzvi Stambler. “From start to finish, Rabbi Eckstein observed our entire process, studied our unique approach to halachic supervision, and was sincerely impressed and pleased. He joyfully granted us the certification and immediately informed his office that he officially approves the kashrut for all our products.”
During his stay in Dnipro, Rabbi Eckstein also became acquainted with the broader life of the local Jewish community. He visited the Menorah Center, met with students of the Tomchei Temimim Yeshiva Ketana Ukraine, and delivered a special Torah class. In addition, he joined Rabbis Kaminezki and Stambler at the Gan Levi Yitzchak retreat, where he gave a Torah lesson to the men enjoying their stay at this beautiful and inspiring location.
