A high-ranking Israeli delegation, headed by the Chief Rabbi of Israel Kalman Meir Ber with his wife Dafna Ber, and the Minister of Religious Services Michael Moshe Malchieli, visited Dnipro at the invitation of the Chief Rabbi of Dnipro and the region, Shmuel Kaminezki. During their visit, they became acquainted with the revival of Jewish life in our city and held a series of official meetings.
One such meeting was a visit to the regional state administration. The Chief Rabbi of Israel and the Minister of Religious Affairs were accompanied by: Rabbi Pinchas Altgoytz, head of the Chief Rabbi’s office and Minister of Religious Affairs David Amar, assistant to the Chief Rabbi Levi Netanel and ministerial assistant Akiva Hofi, as well as representatives of the Jewish community of Dnipro – community director Zelig Brez, deputy secretary of the “Beith Din” Rabbi Yitzhak Karshenbaum, Rabbi Moyshe Leib Weber, Rebbetzin Rachel Milman, esteemed members of the Jewish community Vyacheslav Kheyfetz and Eduard Chudnovsky, and great friend of the Jewish community Viktor Zavorotny.
During the meeting with the head of Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration and head of the regional military administration Serhiy Lysak, the high-ranking Israeli leaders emphasized that Ukraine and Israel share common values and aspirations, courageously defend their independence and strive to establish lasting peace that will strengthen the identity and unity of citizens in both countries. Israel’s Chief Rabbi Kalman Meir Ber gave his blessing and expressed confidence that Israeli-Ukrainian cooperation will develop successfully, especially in a region where such a powerful and cohesive Jewish community operates.
The head of Dnipro Regional Administration Serhiy Lysak warmly welcomed the Israeli guests and noted: “The region has one of the most numerous and powerful Jewish communities in Ukraine. It makes a great and important contribution to regional development, uniting religious life, social programs and creative activities. One of Dnipro’s symbols is the world’s largest Jewish cultural and business center. Next to it stands the ‘Golden Rose’ synagogue. Cultural and educational Jewish centers operate in the region’s largest cities. We’ll be happy to develop cooperation with international partners in various spheres and are ready to provide comprehensive support for joint projects on Dnipropetrovsk region’s territory.”
