Vyshyvanka Day at “Beit Baruch”

At the “Beit Baruch” Senior Residence of the Jewish Community of Dnipro, residents and staff joyfully celebrated the annual Vyshyvanka Day — a Ukrainian holiday observed on the third Thursday of May since 2006.

On this day, the staff of “Beit Baruch,” led by Director Malvina Ruvinska, arrived dressed in bright and beautiful vyshyvankas (traditional embroidered shirts). Many residents joined in, greeting one another and marking this informal celebration that highlights the unity and cohesion of Ukrainians across generations, backgrounds, ethnicities, and faiths.

“We deeply support this tradition because it strengthens us with its beauty, symbolizing the victory of spring, beauty, and tradition,” said Malvina Ruvinska. “Festive clothing holds special meaning in our Home — we are all Jews, and we feel ourselves to be a part of the great and heroic Ukrainian people.”
