A winter camp for boys was held during the winter holidays, organized by the Dnipro Jewish Community in the “Gan Yisroel” format. Fourteen boys aged 8-13 participated, primarily students of the Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson Yeshiva Katan.
The central location of the camp was the “Golden Rose” Central Synagogue, where classes, discussions, prayers, and even meals took place. The camp’s main theme was the concept of “time” and interacting with it in the light of Jewish tradition. Quizzes about time, discussions on the importance of time for the unbreakable connection of chassidim to the Rebbe, and acquiring skills for building one’s own life in accordance with the Jewish understanding of time were held. In addition to lessons, there were many games, song contests, quizzes, and other developmental activities, as well as trips to entertainment centers where the boys could relax with great enjoyment.
“Every day at the camp was very rich both intellectually and emotionally,” says the camp director, Esti Stambler. “The boys were actively engaged, studied complex topics related to Chassidus, played a lot, and were able to gain invaluable spiritual experience and unforgettable impressions in an atmosphere of Yiddishkeit. The team of madrichim, which included Avichai Moranz, Avinoam Linel, and Leibyl Segal – students of the prestigious international institution ‘Tomchei Temimim Yeshiva Katan Ukraine,’ where future rabbis and leaders of Jewish communities from many countries of the world study – performed excellently. Our camp was held at a high level as part of the winter programs for children organized by the united and close-knit Dnipro Jewish Community under the leadership of Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki.”
