At the Beit Baruch Senior Home of Dnipro Jewish Community, rehearsals are underway for a new large-scale performance scheduled to premiere on Tu B’Av – a day known as the “Jewish holiday of love.”
Rehearsals for the production, which includes many musical numbers and songs, began even before the period of mourning that lasts from the 17th of Tammuz to the 9th of Av. Once the mourning restrictions came into effect, the rehearsals have continued – albeit without music. Director and head of creative projects at Beit Baruch, Rivka Lazareva, is confident that after the fast of the 9th of Av, the cast will have enough time to fully prepare for the premiere.
“Our wonderful playwright, Yuri Mikhailovich Fleishman, even included a fragment of a musical in the show,” says Rivka Lazareva. “All of our senior participants are full of enthusiasm and truly believe that the premiere – to which we warmly invite everyone – will be a great success and mark another meaningful contribution from our creative team to the cultural life of the Jewish community and the city as a whole.”
