A grand festive concert dedicated to the 15th of Av—one of the most joyful days on the Jewish calendar—took place at the “Beit Baruch” Home for the Elderly, a unique social institution of the Jewish Community of Dnipro. The Sages of the Talmud said: “There were no more joyous days for Israel than the Fifteenth of Av…” It was to this bright holiday, symbolizing love, hope, consolation, and the beginning of a new chapter following the days of mourning in the month of Av, that the new literary-musical composition “Love Always Lives in the Heart” was dedicated, prepared by the Home’s creative studio under the direction of Rivka Lazareva.
The event’s script was entirely created in the Ukrainian language and introduced the audience to the spiritual meaning of the 15th of Av. The program combined poetry, theatrical sketches, and musical numbers that revealed the themes of love, unity, gratitude to the Almighty, and faith in goodness—concepts that have always been associated with this day in Jewish tradition.
The concert’s special atmosphere was enhanced by well-known songs, specially translated into Ukrainian and meaningfully adapted to align with the theme of the holiday. Thanks to this, the audience happily sang along with the performers, supported them with applause, and became active participants in the event, transforming the concert into a shared celebration filled with warmth, joy, and sincere emotion.
The central message of the literary-musical composition was the reminder that after a period of mourning, the time of consolation inevitably arrives, and love, kindness, and gratitude to the Almighty help a person overcome trials and look to the future with confidence. That is why the 15th of Av has remained a symbol of renewal, unity, and hope for the entire Jewish people throughout the generations.
“The celebration of the 15th of Av in our Home holds special meaning, for the Jewish Day of Love in our tradition is first and foremost about love for life, for one’s people, and for one’s community as a great family—and this love is extraordinarily important for every person at any age,” said Malvina Ruvinskaya, Director of the “Beit Baruch” Home for the Elderly. “For us, the most important thing is to give our residents fulfilling days in their later years, filled with joy, warmth, care, attention, and the feeling that they are cherished and needed—to help them live full lives and greet each new day with gratitude. All of this is made possible through the constant care, love, and support of our beloved, united and cohesive Jewish Community of Dnipro under the leadership of Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki.”
