Purim 5786: Grand Joint Concert at Beit Baruch

At the “Beit Baruch” Home for the Elderly, a unique social institution of the Dnipro Jewish Community, a joint concert was held in honor of Purim, bringing together the creative ensembles of the Home’s residents and students from the Levi Yitzchak Schneerson Jewish Lyceum No. 144.

The festive program became a truly unifying event, featuring performances by both the “Beit Baruch” creative studio and the younger grade students of the lyceum. They gifted each other joy, attention, and the atmosphere of a genuine Purim carnival.

The celebration began with a performance by the talents of Beit Baruch, who prepared a vibrant traditional Purimshpiel for the guests. The production was entirely in Ukrainian, though it featured songs in both Ukrainian and Hebrew, with the participants performing in colorful costumes, creating the atmosphere of a true theatrical celebration. The young guests watched the performance with great interest, sincerely applauding and supporting the artists.

Following this, the concert program of the Jewish lyceum students began, with different classes performing under the guidance of their wonderful teachers: Svitlana Paliukh, Viktoriia Pliner, Daria Barkova, Gayane Arakelyan, and Olena Raskina. The organization of this meeting was ensured by the lyceum’s Deputy Director for Educational Work, Halyna Nakonechna.

The concert program was diverse and heartfelt. First-graders performed the song “Give a Smile,” gifting the audience with warm smiles. Second-graders touched everyone with the song “Mommy, I Love You So Tenderly.” The children’s musical talents also delighted the listeners: Sofiia Sidiekova performed the legendary “Hava Nagila” on the flute, and Mark Bondar presented an original composition on the piano. The third grade prepared an energetic dance, fourth-graders presented poetic greetings, and sixth-grader Nikole Morozova recited the poem “Do Not Offend Mothers.” A particularly moving performance was Kira Bondar’s rendition of the song “Palala.”

The residents of the Home received each performance with great attention and warmth. Applause filled the hall, audience members sang along with the children, and many did not hide their tears – so sincere and touching was the performance of the young artists. The final words about spring and about mothers resonated especially deeply, further moving the listeners.

After the program concluded, the Director of the Beit Baruch Home for the Elderly, Malvina Ruvinska, invited the children for sweet refreshments, and the meeting continued in the warm and friendly atmosphere of a Purim feast.

“Such meetings fill our Home with special meaning, because the children bring with them joy, energy, and a feeling that our residents are remembered and visited with sincere hearts,” noted Malvina Ruvinska, Director of the Beit Baruch Home for the Elderly. “The atmosphere of this meeting once again showed that our community is one big family, and this is precisely how the unity of our beloved and cohesive Dnipro Jewish Community, under the leadership of Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki, is manifested.”
