During the month of Elul, the blowing of the shofar takes place in all institutions, programs, and projects of the Dnipro Jewish Community as an important part of the preparation for the holiday of Rosh HaShanah. In particular, this ceremony is held daily at the Beit Baruch Home for the Elderly.
Every weekday, the shofar is blown by Rabbi Levi Artiushkin of Beit Baruch House. For most residents, the ceremony takes place in the complex’s dining hall, while for those who, due to age or illness, cannot participate in the communal meal, the shofar is blown in their rooms.
“This is very important for all our residents — to hear the shofar every day during the month of Elul,” says Malvina Ruvinskaya, Director of Beit Baruch. “Thanks to the care of the Dnipro Jewish Community and its Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki, every resident of our Home feels a constant, unbreakable unity with the community and the world of Yiddishkeit. They know they will be helped to properly prepare for such an important and fateful day as Rosh HaShanah.”
