Often, the wives of great tzadikim are greater than their husbands, and the daughters surpass the sons. This was the case with Avraham, Yitzhak, and Yaakov, with Rabbi Akiva and Rabbi Meir. This has been true for many great teachers of Chassidus. This is explained by the fact that tzadikim in their personal lives have already experienced the world to come.
