On the second day of Shavuot, the Yizkor memorial prayer is recited in synagogues in memory of the souls who have departed from this physical world.<\/p>

In the central synagogue \u201cGolden Rose\u201d in Dnipro, Yizkor will be recited on June 3 at 11:30 AM.<\/strong><\/p>

Yizkor is read only in a minyan, following the Torah reading during the Shacharit prayer, and only a few times a year: on Yom Kippur, the last day of Passover, the second day of Shavuot, and on Shemini Atzeret. Those whose both parents are alive traditionally leave the synagogue during the prayer.<\/p>

The best way to honor the memory of departed relatives is to recite the Yizkor prayer personally. However, if that is absolutely impossible, it is permitted to delegate it to a community representative or through special online services, such as the form <\/a>provided by the Federation of Jewish Communities of Ukraine<\/p>

Nevertheless, one should remember that nothing is more beneficial for the soul of the departed than when a loved one comes to the synagogue and recites Yizkor on their behalf.<\/p>

An integral part of the Yizkor prayer is the promise of tzedakah (charitable donation) that a person takes upon themselves \u2013 to give a donation after the holiday in merit of the deceased.<\/p>

Such an act holds special power: we perform a good deed in the physical world, something that is no longer accessible to those who have departed it. And it is this that elevates the soul of the deceased, adding merit to them before the Almighty. <\/p>

You may give your donation (only before or after the holiday, not on the holiday itself!)<\/strong><\/span><\/p>
