Dnipro hosted another journey into the depths of the city\u2019s memory as part of the educational and cultural project \u201cJewish Dnipro: Memory, Identity, Community\u201d supported by Joint Ukraine. The tour was guided by city history researcher Mykola Bulany, who helped participants see familiar locations through the lens of the past. <\/p>

\u201cWhat do we really know about the places we pass by every day?\u201d asks Alona Kolpina, director of Hillel JCSC. \u201cOur route took us through seemingly ordinary spots \u2013 the Silpo supermarket near Globa Park, the Yevropeyka shopping center, a bank and post office branch, as well as the office of the Jewish Student Cultural Center \u2018Hillel.\u2019 Yet this time, these locations appeared in a completely new light \u2013 as parts of the larger Jewish history of Katerynoslav. <\/p>

During the tour, participants examined old postcards, recalled notable names and events connected with these places, and learned about Jewish entrepreneurs, cultural figures, and community leaders who helped shape the city. It turned out that even an unremarkable facade can conceal a whole layer of historical memory. <\/p>

Discovering one\u2019s city through the prism of Jewish heritage is a way to feel the connection between generations and bring the past into a living contemporary context, and the next tour within the project will take place very soon.
