Before Yom Kippur, on Erev Yom Kippur, there is an important tradition \u2013 before going to the synagogue, to bless one’s children with a special bracha that can be found in the Yom Kippur machzor. This moment holds particular power. In this blessing, we ask the Almighty to grant children good midot (character traits), health, luck, wisdom, and happiness.<\/p>\n

This prayer not only asks for blessings but also erases any curses or bad words spoken against the children. It is important to note that the blessing can be recited by either the mother or the father, emphasizing the importance of each parent’s role in providing spiritual support to their children on this sacred day.<\/p>\n

Before the bracha, place your right hand on the child’s head and say:
