It is also called the &#8220;time of our joy.&#8221;<\/p><p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\">It was established in memory of that period in our history when the Jewish people, after leaving Egyptian slavery, lived in booths, enveloped by the &#8220;clouds of glory.&#8221; It falls in the autumn period \u2013 the time of the harvest \u2013 which is why Sukkot is sometimes called the &#8220;Festival of the Harvest.&#8221; <\/p><p class=\"ds-markdown-paragraph\">Sukkot is one of the three major pilgrimage festivals for which people would ascend to the Jerusalem Temple.
