On Yud Shvat, it is customary to write a letter to the Rebbe with requests for blessings. This is especially important to do before the milestone Yud Shvat \u2013 the 75th anniversary of the key event in the Jewish life of our generation \u2013 the day Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson accepted upon himself the title of Rebbe. <\/p>

It is advisable before writing the letter to accept upon oneself a good resolution to observe a mitzvah or to increase Torah study, Chassidus study, or tzedakah contributions. One can mention this resolution in the letter. Anyone can write a letter to the Rebbe, regardless of age, nationality, or religion. <\/p>

When requesting a blessing for oneself or for someone else, one should write the person’s name (their Jewish name, if they have one) and the name of their mother.
