The Lubavitcher Rebbe’s General Letter (“Michtav Klali”) for Passover is a traditional annual message addressed to the entire Jewish people before the holiday of Freedom. In it, the Rebbe emphasizes the need for spiritual liberation, Torah study, and mitzvot, as well as the importance of preparing for Passover by ridding oneself of inner chametz (pride). <\/p>

Key ideas in the Rebbe’s Passover letters:<\/p>

\u2022 Passover is not just history: It is an event that happens to every Jew every day. True freedom is liberation from the limitations of the material world and the opportunity to serve the Almighty. <\/p>

\u2022 Elimination of chametz: Symbolizes the need to cleanse the heart of arrogance and egoism, which makes one spiritually free.<\/p>

\u2022 Connection to the Messiah: The Rebbe often emphasized that the liberation from Egypt is a prototype of the final liberation that will come with the coming of the Messiah.<\/p>

\u2022 Holiday Preparation: The letters often contain calls to help those in need, to ensure that everyone can celebrate the holiday (the principle of “Maot Hittim”), and to organize community Seders.<\/p>

These letters, collected in the multi-volume “Igrot Kodesh,” serve as guidance and blessing for the Jewish community worldwide.<\/p>
