The May issue of “Shabbat Shalom” newspaper is special \u2013 it is the fifth edition of 2026 and simultaneously the anniversary, 400th issue of the publication, which has been appearing for 35 years. Traditionally, it is dedicated to the rich and multifaceted life of the Dnipro Jewish Community. Its eight pages feature reports, analytical articles, historical publications, and a chronicle of community projects, reflecting both the spiritual and social life of the community. <\/p>

<\/p>

The first page opens with a message from the editors, emphasizing the significance of the anniversary issue and the newspaper’s long journey. Also published here is an essay by Iryna Lazareva, “Life’s Platform,” which sets the tone for the entire issue. <\/p>

<\/p>

The second page presents a review of the weekly addresses of Chief Rabbi of Dnipro Shmuel Kaminezki under the general title “Correct Guidelines on Life’s Path.” Complementing the page are a report “Israel Marked its 78th Independence Day” and a piece about a women’s farbrengen on Rosh Chodesh Iyar. <\/p>

<\/p>

The third page is dedicated to the activities of the “Chesed Menachem” Charitable Foundation, which plays an important role in the social support of community members.<\/p>

<\/p>

The fourth page features materials about a women’s farbrengen in honor of 11 Nissan, a session of the “Jewish Home” project, a visit by Jewish Lyceum students to the “Beit Baruch” Home for the Elderly, as well as short notes about the work of the Solomonika JCC.<\/p>

<\/p>

The fifth page is entirely devoted to an interview by Valentyn Khoroshun with Vadym Geffer, titled “The Main Thing in Life is Not to Make a Mistake in Choosing the Path and Traveling Companions,” which raises important life and worldview questions.<\/p>

<\/p>

The sixth page contains material about the opening of the exhibition “Some Were Neighbors: Choice, Human Behavior, and the Holocaust” at the Jewish Museum of Dnipro, as well as an abridged version of an interview with Lev Matviyovych Raber, “Chernobyl is Our Shared Pain,” timed to coincide with the anniversary of the Chornobyl tragedy.<\/p>

<\/p>

The seventh page combines articles by Oleksandr Bystriakov, “Ukrainians and Jews \u2013 Poetic Connections,” and by Mykola Bulanyi, “How the ‘Soncino Commentator’ Reformed the Calendar.”<\/p>

<\/p>

Page eight, as always, concludes the issue with a traditional kaleidoscope of events: birthday and anniversary greetings, announcements, and a joke.<\/p>
