The Jewish Community of Dnipro announces with deep sorrow that the soul of the esteemed member of the community, Reb Reuven Margolin, has departed from the material world.

The funeral of Reb Reuven Margolin will take place today, October 7, at 3:00 PM, in the Jewish section of the Zaporizhzhia Cemetery.

There will be no separate farewell in the synagogue or at the Pcholkin House, since according to Chabad custom it is not customary to deliver a hesped – special eulogies and public mourning. Reb Reuven throughout his entire life observed Chabad customs with particular care and diligence, and it was important for us to accompany him in accordance with the tradition to which he was so devoted.

Reuven Margolin was one of the pioneers of the revival of Jewish life in Dnipro and one of the leading experts in Europe in the field of sofrut. He stood at the origins of the revival of the scribal art in the post-Soviet space, passing on his knowledge and craftsmanship to new generations of sofrim. As the Chief Sofer of the National Sofer Center and a recognized expert in matters of sofrut, Reb Reuven took part in the creation and restoration of numerous Torah scrolls. His work became part of the revival of Jewish tradition not only in Ukraine but also in many Jewish communities around the world.

The Jewish Community of Dnipro and our website express their deep condolences to the family and loved ones of Reb Reuven.

Baruch Dayan HaEmes! Blessed is the Righteous Judge!

May the soul of Reb Reuven Margolin rise to Gan Eden, may the Almighty number it among the righteous, may He shelter it beneath the wings of His Shechinah, and may his memory be blessed.
