A new episode has been released on the “Menorah” YouTube channel featuring the Chief Rabbi of Dnipro, Shmuel Kaminezki, and his daughter Sarah Kes. This time, they discuss where the line runs between insolence and healthy self-confidence, why Jewish tradition has the concept of “holy audacity,” and how to learn to stand up for one’s interests without losing respect for others.

<\/p>

At the center of the conversation is the concept of “chutzpah” \u2013 audacity that can be both a manifestation of selfishness and disrespect, and a necessary courage that helps one achieve important goals. Rav Shmuel Kaminezki turns to the teachings of “Pirkei Avot” and stories from the Torah, showing how Jewish tradition teaches one to find the balance between modesty, persistence, and faith. In particular, they discuss whether one can argue with the Almighty, how people turned to Him with requests, and why a sincere conversation sometimes requires considerable courage.

<\/p>

From spiritual principles, the conversation moves to everyday life. How does one ask for a salary raise without turning the request into a demand? When does directness become tactlessness? Should friendship and payment for work be kept separate? And how should one behave with relatives who allow themselves too much? Sarah and Rav Shmuel examine situations familiar to many and explain why self-confidence should not become a justification for rudeness, and why respect for loved ones does not mean giving up personal boundaries.

Separately, the interlocutors speak about self-esteem, boasting, and sincerity, and also about why faith should be manifested not only in words but also in deeds. For true strength of character lies not in insisting on one’s own at any cost, but in the ability to understand when one must show courage and when \u2013 restraint and respect for the feelings of another person.
