On Yud Shvat, it is customary to write a letter to the Rebbe with requests for blessings. This is especially important to do before the milestone Yud Shvat – the 75th anniversary of the key event in the Jewish life of our generation – the day Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson accepted upon himself the title of Rebbe.
It is advisable before writing the letter to accept upon oneself a good resolution to observe a mitzvah or to increase Torah study, Chassidus study, or tzedakah contributions. One can mention this resolution in the letter. Anyone can write a letter to the Rebbe, regardless of age, nationality, or religion.
When requesting a blessing for oneself or for someone else, one should write the person’s name (their Jewish name, if they have one) and the name of their mother. For a non-Jew, the father’s name is usually mentioned instead of the mother’s. The letter can be written in any language.
Thanks to modern technology, sending a letter is very simple via an online form: https://www.ohelchabad.org/ or by email: [email protected], as well as through a special form on our website
