Summer Retreat “Machane Tzeirim JRNU” – Five Days Where Rest, Jewish Traditions, and Spiritual Growth Became One

Jewish youth from Dnipro and many other communities across Ukraine spent five unforgettable days at the “Kohavi Forest Club” during the summer retreat “Machane Tzeirim JRNU,” organized by the Dnipro Jewish Community with the support of the charitable organization Jewish Relief Network Ukraine. The retreat program combined active recreation, friendly socializing, Jewish traditions, spiritual activities, and a rich atmosphere of genuine Jewish unity.

The participants became part of a special program that allowed them not only to rest fully and recharge but also to spend their time meaningfully. Each day included prayer, engaging sessions on Jewish tradition led by young shluchim under the guidance of Rabbi Eliyahu Heifer, as well as communal meals, friendly socializing, and a variety of activities.

Throughout the retreat, the youth spent daily time by the pool, played soccer, tennis (both regular and table tennis), rode bicycles, and took part in board games and other sports and team activities. This format allowed participants not only to enjoy a wonderful vacation but also to strengthen friendships, experience the atmosphere of Jewish community, and spend several days in a truly warm and inspiring environment.

A special place in the program was held by the evening activities. The young shluchim prepared rich programs for the participants, each evening culminating in inspiring farbrengens. Together they sang niggunim accompanied by guitar, conversed, shared thoughts, and spent time in an atmosphere of true Chassidic camaraderie, where friendship, spiritual growth, and sincere joy naturally complemented one another.

“For our youth, such retreats are of immense significance. They provide an opportunity not only to rest well but also to strengthen their connection to Jewish traditions, find new friends, feel part of a large Jewish family, and gain spiritual inspiration for the future,” noted Rabbi Reuven Kaminezki. “We are sincerely grateful to the Jewish Relief Network Ukraine organization, which supports many projects of Jewish life and, specifically, gave us the opportunity to hold this wonderful retreat, which became an important part of the summer recreation programs conducted by the united and cohesive Dnipro Jewish Community under the leadership of Chief Rabbi Shmuel Kaminezki.”
