A practical lesson, “The Jewish Home,” was held for the participants of the “Stars Intensive” program – an advanced-level educational track within the “DJCY-STL-STARS Dnipro” youth project of the Dnipro Jewish Community, implemented with the support of STL. The lesson was conducted by Rebbetzin Shoshi Weber.
The gathering was part of a program aimed at deepening young people’s familiarity with Jewish traditions and their practical application in daily life. This time, the participants immersed themselves in the atmosphere of a Jewish home through the shared preparation of various dishes. The girls prepared a delicate dairy dessert, cheese buns, and large aromatic waffles with chocolate, acquiring new culinary skills and mastering interesting recipes. During the lesson, the participants not only learned to cook but also became acquainted with practical aspects of the laws of kashrus, learned the subtleties of Jewish cuisine, and paid attention to the details that help create the special atmosphere of a true Jewish home.
“Such practical lessons are very important because they allow not only the acquisition of knowledge but also its immediate application in practice,” noted Chaya Maltseva, director of the “STARS Dnipro” project. “When the girls cook with their own hands, learn about the laws of kashrus, and immerse themselves in the atmosphere of a Jewish home, it helps them feel the connection to tradition much more deeply. It is especially gratifying that the participants were able to take the prepared dishes home and share them with their loved ones, thereby strengthening the connection of a great many people with our united and cohesive Dnipro Jewish Community under the leadership of its Chief Rabbi, Shmuel Kaminezki.”
